First normal working day of absence

If unable to attend work because of illness or any other incapacity, an employee must speak to their manager or, if unable to speak to their manager, the Human Resources Department at Head Office, wherever practicable before 9.10 am.

The use of email or SMS text messages for the initial notification of absence is prohibited.

A full explanation of the reason for absence and possible date of return to work must be given. A relative or friend may contact JTL on the employee’s behalf.

The Manager shall advise the Human Resources Department of this matter immediately. The Human Resources Department will then issue the company Absence Statement direct to the employee.
